NADA support

NADA's support pages in English contain information considered relevant for users abroad that create and transmit ads to Norwegian newspapers and magazines.

Please also note that the ad preflight and distribution service NADAexpress has an integrated bilingual (Norwegian, English) Help system.

General descriptions of NADA's various services and solutions are here.

The support pages are organized like this:

Making NADA ads for Norwegian newspapers

This page gives a brief description of the requirements for technically acceptable NADA ads for newspapers. This includes requirements for color spaces used, fonts, image resolution, transparency, and other matters of interest when producing PDF ad files. Note that the newspaper ad requirements are not the same as those for magazine ads.

The distribution service NADAexpress preflights all ads prior to distribution. The technical advice supplied in the preflight feedback should enable you to fix preflight errors that – un-fixed – will block the ad from being distributed.

Color management for newspaper ads

From 1 January 2012 onwards, the ISO standard 12647-3 is consided the prevailing color management standard for ads to Norwegian newspapers. This page gives a very brief description of color management in general, and describes how to set up a number of commonly used programs to adher to the ISO standard.

Modular grid newspapers – 5 columns

Most Norwegian newspapers use one or two fixed modular grids that determine allowable sizes for ads. The modular grid based on a 5 column page is the most commonly used for ads to go on text pages. This page shows the 5 column grid with all measurements included.

[Use the (Norwegian language only, unfortunately) Mediekatalogen if you need to look up each newspaper's use of 5 or 6 column grids.]
